Jolien Spoelstra has an MA in Clinical and Health Psychology from Utrecht University. She started her career as a recruitment psychologist at the Police Academy in Amsterdam before becoming a therapist in the outpatient treatment centre and crisis centre of Altrecht (a regional mental health care agency) in Woerden.
After she pursued a postgraduate certificate in Health Care Psychology and completed her degree in cognitive behavioural therapy she then spent several years working on employment-related mental health problems at PsyQ Business and Skils. She became a qualified supervisor affiliated with the Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies [Vereniging voor Gedragstherapie en Cognitieve Therapie, or VGCt] and in this capacity, she supervises therapists who are in training to become board-approved cognitive behavioural therapists.
Since then, she has worked in an outpatient treatment centre at PsyQ Zaandam where she treated people for sexual dysfunction, anxiety, mood disorders and trauma.
Jolien Spoelstra holds a postgraduate certificate in Sexology and is also a registered supervisor of the Netherlands Scientific Association for Sexology [Nederlandse Wetenschappelijke Vereniging voor Seksuologie, or NVVS].
She specialised in EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and treats couples with relational problems.
As an EMDR therapist she uses EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, to treat traumatic experiences and PTSD.
In 2015 Jolien Spoelstra opened her own practice Move for Motion, where she treats relational problems, sexual disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma and stress. She is a member of the Netherlands Association of Psychologists & Psychotherapists in Independent Practice [Landelijke Vereniging van Vrijgevestigde Psychologen & Psychotherapeuten, or LVVP].
