Sexological treatment focuses on reducing sexual problems and improving your sex life, usually through cognitive behavioral therapy. Relational therapy is often used when problems in your relationship are the cause of the sexual issues, a perpetuating factor, or something that exacerbates the problem.
For more information, see the website of the Nederlandse Wetenschappelijke Vereniging voor Seksuologie (in Dutch).
Emotionally focused therapy, or EFT, is an effective form of relational therapy developed by Sue Johnson. EFT aims to improve communication between people, increase mutual understanding, and deepen connection.
For more information, see the website of the Stichting EFT Nederland (in Dutch) or the ICEEFT (in English).
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a proven effective treatment method used when people suffer from persistent complaints that have arisen after a traumatic experience.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a proven effective form of psychotherapy that focuses on, among other things, challenging irrational thoughts and experimenting with new behavior.

The costs of treatment are determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) and are adjusted annually to the applicable NZa rate.
CONTRACT FREE
Jolien Spoelstra works exclusively in basic mental healthcare and “contract-free.” This means she deliberately chooses not to have any contracts with insurers. As a result, “reimbursed care” is only partially reimbursed by the health insurer. You must therefore pay the remaining costs yourself.
The amount of reimbursement you receive depends on your health insurance. To find out how much you can get reimbursed, contact your insurer. Also, keep in mind the deductible, which can be deducted from reimbursements.
In addition, you must request a ‘declaration of consent’ in advance from some insurers in order to receive partial reimbursement for treatment.
REIMBURSED TREATMENT
We speak of ‘reimbursed treatment’ when a so-called DSM5 diagnosis can be made, the treatment of which is reimbursed by the health insurer and when you have a referral letter from a general practitioner, a medical specialist, or a psychological counselor working in specialized mental health care.
The costs of ‘reimbursed care’ are determined by the NZa and are charged to you per consultation.
If a consultation lasts longer (such as with EMDR treatment), a higher fee will apply. Jolien Spoelstra, your insurer, and the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) can provide you with more information.
UNREIMBURSED TREATMENT
Treatment of sexual complaints, relational problems, stress complaints, grief and life-phase problems is usually not covered by basic insurance.
The costs of ‘unreimbursed care’ are also determined by the NZa and are charged to you per consultation.
If a consultation lasts longer (such as with EMDR treatment), a higher fee will apply. Jolien Spoelstra, your insurer, and the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) can provide you with more information.
N.B. The prices above apply to consumers whose health insurer does not have a contract with the healthcare provider in question. If you do have a contract with your health insurer, different prices may apply.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you must do so at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations or rescheduling can be done by phone or email.
A fixed fee of €138.15 will be charged for cancellations or rescheduling within 24 hours (this also applies in cases of force majeure, such as traffic or weather conditions, or illness).
The practice is generally open during office hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. You can contact the practice on these days between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
If there is a crisis at a time when the practice is unavailable, you are advised to contact your own GP, the on-call GP post, or the crisis service.
BASIC MENTAL HEALTHCARE OR SPECIALIZED MENTAL HEALTHCARE
Jolien Spoelstra works exclusively within basic mental healthcare. You can receive treatment within basic mental healthcare if you have a disorder, but the problem is not complex and there is no risk.
“Complex” refers to treatment of the symptoms that is complicated by other disorders, such as personality disorders, serious physical complaints, or psychosocial problems. “Risk” refers to treatment involving violence, neglect, self-harm, or the threat of suicide. If the symptoms are complex and/or there is a risk, it is best to seek treatment within specialized mental healthcare.
