Santé – Squirting

Marit is a 24-year-old girl with beautiful freckles and a big bunch of dark curls. She has been in treatment with me for a while, because she experiences a lot of stress from her job. Lately she has been doing better and that is also because of her new relationship. She has been talking enthusiastically about him. But today she suddenly seems more stressed again.

“Did something happen at work again?” I ask. “Oh no, that’s actually going really well,” she starts. “But uhm, I told you about Antony, right?” I nod. “Well, yesterday when we were in bed, something very strange happened all of a sudden.” She pauses for a moment, as if she needs permission to continue. “Tell me, what happened?” I say. “All right, well… So while we were having sex, suddenly a lot of fluid came out. Down there, so to speak…” She points to her crotch with two fingers. “I’ve never had that before and it actually kind of freaked me out.” She raises her eyebrows way up. “Okay,” I say, “What a pitty that you felt so shocked! How did Anthony react to what happened?”

"He acted very normal, fortunately. But the bed was wet and I still feel so embarrassed!"

After some further questioning, I explain to Marit that what she experienced is called ‘squirting’. During sex, a woman can suddenly release some fluid. This can happen during orgasm, but also at other moments during sex. For example, when the urethra or bladder are stimulated. “Some women find it annoying and others find it delightful. Some partners don’t like it and others find it very exciting. But it’s certainly not weird and there’s absolutely no need to be ashamed,” I tell her. Relieved, Marit leaves my practice.

After a short break, the doorbell of my practice rings. A cheerful couple in their thirties walk in for an intake session. “Sit back and relax,” I start. “What can I help you guys with?” They look at each other for a moment and then begin to share. “We would like to have anal sex. Now we’ve been trying for a while, but somehow it just doesn’t work out.” “So I want to explore whether there might be a mental block,” the woman says. “After all, it feels a little like I’m failing, because I can’t give this to him,” she adds. Her husband looks at her from the side. “Hey, but you can squirt like a pro!” Says he and nudges his shoulder against hers. “Yeah, I can do that really well,” she says proudly.
